| Dunedin is the gateway to
the vast recreational and natural wildlife reserves of the Southern
Lakes District of the South Island of New Zealand. Walking and tramping
tracks abound.
The Otago Region has a unique micro-climate that maintains glaciers
in the west and nurtures vineyards to the east in an extraordinarily
compact area offering an amazing range of diverse activities which
include fishing, tramping, skiing in season, golf, and many other
recreational pursuits set against a spectacular backdrop of New
Zealand’s panoramic Southern Alps.
In Central Otago it is possible to land a trout, raft a river,
jet boat the lake, visit vineyards and sample their wines, all in one day! Choices are many and travelling time
minimal.
